PES 14 or FIFA 14?

Played the demo for FIFA 14, can't say I was impressed but it has been a while since I have been impressed by a soccer game anyway. All my games end up basically 0-0 with only 2 or so shots (hail mary attempts) for the whole game. i have been playing PES since 2008.and i can say PES 14 is the worst game i have ever played.yes its the worst.i hate konami for giving us a game like this.i feel really insulted.since 2007 only FIFA i played is FIFA 13 and i can say it is better than PES 13.now i am waiting for FIFA 14 so i can delete this konami garbage. Realism, urghh... Give me fun gameplay any day. I was ISS Pro Evo on PS1, and continued with PES series on PS2, but single player wasn't much fun at all, bookings for any tackle, lame repetitive routes to score, just good for 2-player games... and I think I gave up on console football pretty much completely around PES6. Then after a few years break, played FIFA 08 on 360 and wows, the love for console football comes flooding back. Next FIFA 10 and that was awesome. One time round a friend's house we couldn't find FIFA 10 and so tried the recent PES 2010 or something game he had and my word, it was dreadful. Loyal to FIFA these days, although I didn't like FIFA 13 as much as 10, basically because I prefer football with a decent bit of arcade to it, rather than too much simulation/realism. So yeah, if either I'd probably only look at FIFA 14, PES has been on the wrong trail for a long, long time to my mind.Realism, urghh... Give me fun gameplay any day. Preferred the Atari ST version. Then again for I also played Matchday 2 on the Spectrum - the power monitor to determine how you kicked the ball leading to comedy random backheels. Lots of fun but zero realism

Did they manage to get some downgraded version onto the ST? Wows... I loved Sensi on the Amiga (500), the first game of any type where I think I achieved a state of "zen play". Never got on with the console versions, pad just didn't work as well as joystick. (Jetfighter joystick for preference.) I downloaded trial of the update of it, or maybe it was of an update of SWOS, off Xbox Live the other day, god it was awful... SWOS was excellent in it's time, if a bit buggy with players skills diminishing, and irritating with super-human enemy goalkeepers and your own prone to lame mistakes. Ah and who that ever played it would forget Sensible Soccer: Bulldog Blighty... cover disc for some Amiga mag or other that had 3 play options: (1) England v Germany normal game, (2) England v Germany 1966 in b&w, and lastly, by no means least because it was fantastic, (3) England v Germany both sides dressed as soldiers and the ball replaced by a bomb. I just played a few games of FIFA and the only things that FIFA is better than PES in are: 1. Commentary 2. Player faces 3. Interface/HUD Gameplay is hideous. Its the exact same ax FIFA 13.I just played a few games of FIFA and the only things that FIFA is better than PES in are:

At the risk of turning this into a retro football games thread, can't help thinking that games like sensible soccer, kick-off and goal (weren't they both Dino Dini games?) were more fun for their day than FIFA or PES now, something so basic as tap to control was more intuitive. Either that or I've become an old fart - I gave up on Champ/football manager years ago round the time of the split when they were going ott with stats and levels of detailAt the risk of turning this into a retro football games thread, can't help thinking that games like sensible soccer, kick-off and goal (weren't they both Dino Dini games?) were more fun for their day than FIFA or PES now, something so basic as tap to control was more intuitive.

@monk, Kick Off and Kick Off 2 were Dino Dini, but then he left Anco and they did their own Kick Off 3, while he did Goal. Neither of which mattered because between 2 and either of those, Sensi had come along and ruled the 16-bit computer universe for evermore. Or until it's own sequel anyway. I have had two versions on PES, but I have to say I prefer FIFA. I have every version of FIFA since '05 and I continue to agree that it's the best soccer game out there. I do think that they have a "every-other" program going on like Windows. The odd numbers seem to be the better games, and the even years seem to be not so good. I have been disappointed with '07, '11, and '13 whereas in the evens I have only been disappointed with '08.I have had two versions on PES, but I have to say I prefer FIFA.
