Here is the newest place for managers from the USA to check in with each other, seek advice, discuss the game or seek encouraging words after discouraging results. Also found here can be discussions of National Cups and the national team. The national team also has its own thread in MZ Talk. Use this forum well and welcome to the community.

Below are the table for the latest round of the MZUSA Federations Tiered Friendly League series. If you'd like to join in the next round post on this thread and you will be added to the waiting list.

And here are the tables for the relaunched Regional Conference Friendly Leagues. Again if you are interested in joining these please let us know what city and state you wish to represent.

Congratulations to Santos FC on narrowly edging out River Plate DB for the Pacific/Midwest regional league.

@dowopado- I think I will be in a similar place at the end of next season. I've got 3 midfielders and my keeper who all may announce retirement at the end of the off season. Can't decide if I should jump the gun and put them up for sale or hold on to them and convert them to coaches after they retire.

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

That's a tough decision to make, especially, if you are not loaded with a cash balance to replace the older players with younger top notch players that are going for millions of dollars. Normally, you won't make enough on the older players to purchase young ones.

I am unfortunately far from loaded with cash. Selling off a surplus young keeper to try to get the funds to make it through season break. Too bad, I was really hoping to keep him until he maxed in keeping - now I'll never know how he turns out.

I have set up and sent out invites for the MZUSA Nationwide Championship S45 to the top four finishers in the regional competitions. Currently it is set up to run over the season break with two matches each day, but if the participating teams would like a different schedule please let me know and I can make adjustments.

Congratulations and good luck to each regions representatives.

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

hi guys...haven't been active in the MZUSA lately. hope everyone is doing OK. for the regional leagues...because there is only 3 leagues, we should do the nationwide championship league with the top 5 so we can play more games...just my opinion...

Thoughts on the latest news of increasing the foreign limit:

I would rather see an increase in the limit by 1 and the implementation of a naturalization of players in 5 seasons. With naturalization effective retro for foreigners on teams currently.

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

personally i like the foreign limit as is

Eric....Just for info, the B League is titled 20th Ed., should be 21st Ed. Don't know if you can change it. No biggy.

Don't know why US teams always seem to be so slow in accepting invites.

Unfortunately I noticed that after sending invites and once invites are sent the name is locked.

I agree about folks being slow to accept. A League is the only one that you can count on filling fast. Perhaps some of the managers we are waiting for step away from their teams for the season break. Not sure, sent gb messages to folks reminding them of the invites.

Hey guys... been kinda quite here due to work being pretty crazy!

I hope I have a better season in the tier league... its time to move my team up a notch. Did we do a promotion/relegation for the tier leagues?

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

Badge image
What's your guys' opinion on the extra international players?

I think it might be a good thing giving the lack of us players in the market, although if we have a shortage in $$$ in comparison with other countries it might be a negative thing?

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

Badge image
I think it's inevitable that the limit will be increased based on popular votes in the MZ Federation poll. But sadly, at the moment it doesn't make any difference, I don't have the money to compete for the good foreign players.

Yes, there was promotion and relegation but no playoffs. Some teams didn't get relegated due to drop outs from the tier above and others got into the next tier up for the same reason. Still waiting for the last few folks to sign on. Hopefully will get to start them after the first round of regular League matches.

Seconded. I think it will be a long time before I can compete for real quality players in the transfer market. Looks like I will still be dependent on my youth system.

Thanks for helping with this. Felt kind of stupid for not changing the edition number before sending invites. Need to be more careful in the future, perhaps not set up so early in the morning. :D

I agree with both of you.. but that is more of a personal reason... I was wondering what do you guys think in general for the health of the game itself.

I think it opens up a little for US teams since the US market lacks of players... However if we generally can collect much $$$ than we now have to compete with more international teams for our own US players...

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

Badge image
I don't have any information on the MZ economy, but I assume that the countries that have a larger Manager base, will generally have a higher average club wealth. That may or may not be true, but if it is... Then If we expand the limit on international players that will allow those countries with club wealth averages higher than normal to redistribute more of their wealth by biding on countries with a lower overall demanded value for their players, due to lack of local demand. This redistribution will allow smaller countries with small transfer markets to be more of a player on the global level both on an off the pitch.

My personal solution would be 5 or 6 foreign players are allowed in the Senior League, with that number reduced to maybe 2 for the youth leagues. This would still encourage local development, but would also shrink whatever gap their is between different national transfer markets, and add more parity between countries

Re: MZUSA Federation #10

Badge image
I, initially, was opposed to any increase to the foreign limit but after taking more time to think about it, and reading many of the reviews on the subject matter, I have changed that thought. Now I believe what is best for all teams, the economy, the market and the youth development is to have no restrictions on the purchases of foreign player (i.e. no limits) but restrict the number of foreign players in a tactic to only 4 or 5. The restriction of foreigners in a tactic keeps youth development alive, plus keeps the teams predominantly of national representation.

The initial increase in foreign limits will have a immediate impact on the market driving prices up because of the demand/supply ratio but would level out over a period of a few months. Also, the benefit of of the increase in limits would benefit greatly the managers with a surplus of funds to maintain their superiorty in competitions but over time the other managers will be able to increase their competitiveness with additional foreign players available and hopefully tip the balance just a little bit. The distinction is not large countries vs small countries, as many have claimedd, but the well established, heavily endowed managers vs the relatively new, peon managers (such as I am).

I'm looking forward to the new season. Another chance to get into MLS. Nervous with Buitres moving down to my division, however. This is also the first season where I've really had to worry about retirement announcements.

In other news, my U21 NT player scored his first goal for the team today :D Let's hope there's more where that came from

I usually try to wait until all the friendly leagues are started, but I'm not sure when the regionals are going to get to a starting point so I may open a new thread with the tiered leagues at the top.

I can update the S45 Nationwide Championship - darkline's team Buitres FC won with 42 points. They started out strong and never slowed down. Coming in a close second with 41 points was flaco's team ChAяRuA ϒ KaяβoηEяO ☆. Congratulations!!

All the tiered leagues are started but we need quite a few teams to sign on for the regionals to be full. Closest is the Northeast with 14 teams, next is Southeast with 10. If you want to join these leagues and have not already gotten an invite post here or in my gb and I'll get you an invite - need to know city and state you will represent. Thanks

He can't edit forums as an RA, so he doesn't have the capabilities..... and thanks for the congrats, the last few games on the Nationwide league where close and my last game against flaco was sort of a final, as I needed to get at least a tie, which is what I got in the end :)

Thanks, I will try to get a new page up by the weekend and look to have the regional tables added later.

Here's where we stand on the regional leagues.

Pacific Conference - 9 invites sent, 5 accepted
Midwest Conference - 10 invites sent, 6 accepted
Northeast Conference - 19 invites sent, 14 accepted
Southeast Conference - 16 invites sent, 10 accepted

Still looking for teams in the Midwest and Pacific regions. There are a few teams from Illinois and Indiana which have not accepted their invites, if the Northeast fills up I may switch them to the Midwest. However, if they still don't accept won't make much difference anyway.

Too bad teams aren't as quick to sign on as the waters were to come up around here.
