Is BatTrick worth signing up for?

I need an educated opinion on whether BatTrick is a good cricket manager. I'm on the fence right now as to whether to sign up or not since I'm already handling 2 online managers and I'd prefer not to waste my time signing up only to find that everything is a shambles (plus, once I sign up for a game I don't usually like quitting).

I've already gathered some information on the game and I was a bit sceptical about it being based on sHatTrick but then I remembered that Buzzerbeater is similar to HT, but is a good manager game because it greatly improved on HT's flawed system. And from the looks of things, BT has also made many improvements (more games and better training are the big ones). The things I want to know before I dive in are:

1. Is the match engine any good? My definition of good: solid teams will always beat bad teams, and upsets can only occur when the teams aren't too far apart in skill level.

2. Does it have good, lively forums? Need a good community in online games.

Thanks in advance.

Been many years since I played it for a while, but I remember it being a solid enough game. I'd say yes to 1 unless things have changed dramatically.. the better team generally wins but when the gap in class isn't too big there were tactics and ground options that made things interesting.

2 was a yes too I think.. I remember a decent core of active forum posters.

But my experience was years ago.

I learned a bit about cricket, but I think I've forgotten it all since. :P

I have been playing fromthepavilion.org for nearly a year and really enjoy it, it simple to pick up and get into and really hooked my, plus you can have two teams, as long as in separate countries. Its easy to navigate between sections, team set up, tactics, training transfers etc are all easy to understand. When I tried out battrick I found it comfusing and not user friendly.

didnt mean to hit post, in ftp you play senior team T20 game on Tuesday, 40 over youth match Wednesday and 50 over senior match on a Friday, the 50over match takes about 5 hours to play out if you follow the commentary, friendly matches can be arranged all other days. The more money you can afford to put into your training academies the faster players train, but dont go bust. you need to manage you squad youth and seniors for fatigue and form, decide on pitch types to suit you team and to get the best out of your team in combination with the weather forecast, eg a hard pitch on a cloudy day will suit fast/fast medium while a dry pitch on a hot day will suit spinners. all common real life player attributes are there, and players tend to have random additional talents like doosra, finisher, old ball bowler, boundary hitter etc

oh and in answer to your question I find the ftp sim / engine to be very trustworthy there have not been any instances of being simmed and like MZ it takes time to build up a team (a season lasts 14 weeks, 14game leagues 50over, T20 and 40over youth leagues), it is free to play but like mz you get more for being a member.

I took a quick look at FromThePavilion, looks really good also but... I notice that FTP lacks a certain format of cricket... something that lasts multiple days and multiple innings... First-Class? Just saying because BatTrick has FC games ;).

If BatTrick doesn't work out for me I'll swing on over to the FromThePavilion game but for now I've signed up and am waiting on account confirmation.
