The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Balázs Gyurkovics managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when U21 Brazil's Claudinei Pitta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 5 minutes into the match, U21 Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinei Pitta came free, but Balázs Gyurkovics reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, U21 Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Váldson Neves came free, but Balázs Gyurkovics reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angel Edelényi, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. If Claudinei Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14thth minute of the game Csaba Ferenczy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Brazil's Júlio da Cunha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 16th minute U21 Hungary were awarded a corner. Angel Edelényi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to U21 Hungary's Lóránt Gerő getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Claudinei Pittas short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Balázs Gyurkovics to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 23 minutes into the game, Szilárd Devecseri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Hungary's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Brazil the free kick. Júlio da Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Máté Sámuel in the 28th minute of the match. In the 29th minute of the match U21 Hungary got a corner. U21 Brazil's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Angel Edelényi ran over to the corner to take the kick. U21 Hungary's Angel Edelényi was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Júlio da Cunha in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Alfredinho Vinhas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Balázs Gyurkovics firmly grabbed it by the left post. Alfredinho Vinhas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Balázs Gyurkovics made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Claudinei Pitta managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Brazil's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Pitta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Balázs Gyurkovics breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Hungary's Balázs Gyurkovics proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save U21 Hungary from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claudinei Pitta made a kick off. In the 54th minute Claudinei Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Balázs Gyurkovics saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Balázs Gyurkovics showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Pitta, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 62nd minute Angel Edelényi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Balázs Gyurkovics showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Pitta in the 64th minute of the match. Félix Vándor replaced Máté Sámuel. U21 Hungary's Jónás Dudics was substituted for Csaba Ferenczy. U21 Brazil's Júlio da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jónás Dudics in the 73rd minute of play. Balázs Gyurkovics took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Váldson Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jónás Dudics got free with Júlio da Cunha in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinei Pitta in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Balázs Gyurkovics prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Balázs Gyurkovics came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Brazil's Umberto de Azevedo. But to his dismay, Umberto de Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 85th minute, Paulo Renato Arruda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Hungary's Márton Imre got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Csaba Sinkovits could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Júlio da Cunha however easily saved by the left post. In the 92ndth minute of the game Endre Soós who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Brazil's Júlio da Cunha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jónás Dudics took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Júlio da Cunha. Júlio da Cunha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. U21 Brazil's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
