After 25 minutes China's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Melquiades Primeiro who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Saturnino Botello got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Melquiades Primeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 陈国天 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, 徐凡震 made a precise shot to the right of Abel Perez. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 37 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when 徐凡震 came free, but Abel Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. China were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. 宋克荣 took the corner. The Mexico players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. China were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marciano Luar was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match, Xu Yang Wei got a very nice opportunity to score, but Abel Perez was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 邵威乐 came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Abel Perez could save by the left post. China's 陈国天 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marciano Luar in the 57th minute of play. In the 60th minute Melquiades Primeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 陈国天 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abel Perez made an important save on a dangerous shot by 邵威乐 in the 61st minute. Xu Yang Wei took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abel Perez. Abel Perez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After 69 minutes, Melquiades Primeiro made it 2-3 with a short kick to the right side. China's 陈国天 tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Americo Osorio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. 陈国天 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexico's Carmelo Ovando was substituted for Marciano Luar. Mexico's Ivan Sansone was substituted for Melquiades Primeiro. 76 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when 石康文 came free, but Abel Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 石康文 in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute, 邵威乐 reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Abel Perez. The goal made the score 2-4. Mexico made a substitution. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. 楚岩旭 ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some careless play in the China defense, Ivan Sansone kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 陈国天. The China fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 陈国天 should have stopped the shot. 92 minutes into the game, one of China:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 陈国天 had in the 94thth minute some difficulties stopping Mariano Furtado's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
