A hard shot 11 in the game by Birger Østgaard from a close distance when the talented Kermit Dunn managed to make a qualified save. U21 United States's players were relieved. 16 minutes into the game, Birger Østgaard lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Kermit Dunn. 20 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goalkeeper Kermit Dunn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Birger Østgaard. Birger Østgaard struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Kermit Dunn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Norway. 25 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goal looked a bit too open when Birger Østgaard came free, but Kermit Dunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute U21 Norway were awarded a corner. Birger Østgaard went to the cornerflag to take it. Birger Østgaard made a great header on U21 Norway's corner, it was just that U21 United States's Kermit Dunn managed to reach the ball for a save. 35 minutes into the match, Birger Østgaard had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kermit Dunn. U21 United States's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Birger Østgaard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Kermit Dunn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luka Modrić in the 40th minute of play. U21 Norway's Idar Hareide got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 42 played minutes U21 United States got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldinho Gaucho. 44 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goal looked a bit too open when Idar Hareide came free, but Kermit Dunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, U21 Norway's Birger Østgaard sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kermit Dunn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Birger Østgaard in the 55th minute of play forced U21 United States's goalkeeper Kermit Dunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Birger Østgaard's late challenge caught a U21 United States's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Birger Østgaard helped the player get up and apologised. After 58 played minutes U21 Norway got a freekick which was hit by Birger Østgaard. In the 80th match minute, U21 Norway was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andreas Stiansen to maneuver through the defense. Barry Grady could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Julius Clementz made a huge save. When Idar Hareide fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Norway's protests and gave Idar Hareide a yellow card for diving instead. Idar Hareide kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Birger Østgaard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julius Clementz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Hull in the 90th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Gaucho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 United States's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Norway the free kick. After a rather tough play, U21 United States's Ronaldinho Gaucho got a free kick in the 95th minute. U21 Norway's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
