In the 14th minute Robustiano Alcantara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Robustiano Alcantara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Américo Fontes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Américo Fontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robustiano Alcantara in the 18th minute of the match. Portugal's Américo Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robustiano Alcantara in the 27th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Amadeu Porto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Lucas Covarrubias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 33rd minute Ricardo Valente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Covarrubias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Santiago Puertocarrero could shoot a difficult shot in the 35th minute, which Américo Fontes however easily saved by the left post. In the 38th minute, Ricardo Valente made a precise shot to the right of Lucas Covarrubias. Chile's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Santiago Puertocarrero was the one to do the kick off. Ricardo Valente received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lucas Covarrubias came out and tried to block the shot, but Ricardo Valente slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 61st minute. Chile made a substitution. José Alberto Albertz replaced Robustiano Alcantara. Chile's Ariano Dávila was substituted for Gaitano Tupper. The throw-in from José Ignacio Baier in the 67th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Portugal's Abel Fernandes. Chile's Lucas Covarrubias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Chile from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Chile's Lucas Covarrubias got control of the ball when José Augusto Bot tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 85th minute José Alberto Albertz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Chile's José Alberto Albertz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Américo Fontes narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
