With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rudi Voller in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sergio Van Houtvin saved Belgium from getting behind. Tom Akkerboom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Senne Van Calster in the 16th minute of play. If Gregor Halen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands's Rudi Voller got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tom Akkerboom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Senne Van Calster in the 25th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Senne Van Calster to strike the kick off in the second half. Senne Van Calster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Tom Akkerboom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gregor Halen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sergio Van Houtvin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregor Halen in the 61st minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Octave Van Den Abeele got free with Tom Akkerboom in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sergio Van Houtvin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Zeldenrust, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sergio Van Houtvin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregor Halen, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Tom Akkerboom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Senne Van Calster in the 70th minute of play. Netherlands's Tom Akkerboom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Lembrechts in the 71st minute of play. Tomm van Hagenborgh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Tom Akkerboom made a huge save. Netherlands's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Senne Van Calster 93 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
