Bassam Al Rifaee showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Soter Albar, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 22nd minute Kuwait were awarded a corner. Haitham Al Bana went to the cornerflag to take it. Haitham Al Bana made a great header on Kuwait's corner, it was just that Uruguay's Nataniel Alvaro managed to reach the ball for a save. Uruguay's Soter Albar got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bassam Al Mofede scored 1-0 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nataniel Alvaro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kuwait's Motlaq Al Arbash was substituted for Meshal Al Wazan. 65 minutes into the match, Kuwait's goal looked a bit too open when Soter Albar came free, but Bassam Al Rifaee reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Roby Baggio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nataniel Alvaro was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Bassam Al Rifaee showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernendo Malsepica in the 78th minute of the match.
