Román Baeza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Sebastián Viera made a huge save. In the 15th minute U21 Spain were awarded a corner. Silban Idiaquez went to the cornerflag to take it. Sebastián Viera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Román Baeza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the game, Román Baeza lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Sebastián Viera. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Germán Gibert in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastián Viera saved U21 Colombia from getting behind. Sebastián Viera made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Germán Gibert sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to U21 Colombia getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Gambo Alexandrovitsch hit a great ball. Sebastián Viera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germán Gibert in the 60th minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, U21 Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Bembe Quiles came free, but Loren Lacorte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66thth minute of the game Germán Gibert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Colombia's Sebastián Viera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jaizki Quevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. U21 Spain made a substitution. Luke Torrent replaced Emilio Alcalde. U21 Colombia's Roberto Lewandowski was substituted for Gambo Alexandrovitsch. After a rather tough play, U21 Colombia's Jaizki Quevedo got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The supporters of U21 Spain booed when U21 Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Alberto Yepes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Román Baeza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sebastián Viera. U21 Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Román Baeza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 88th minute, Min Gonzalez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. U21 Colombia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
