In the 4th minute, U21 Poland's Krzysztof Olszewski ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Eric Neacșu. Eric Neacșu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Krzysztof Olszewski might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eric Neacșu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Krzysztof Olszewski ran back to his position shaking his head. Eric Neacșu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Krzysztof Olszewski in the 9th minute of the match. In the 10thth minute of the game Doru Pașcanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Poland's Ksawery Magdziarz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Agudin in the 12th minute of play forced U21 Poland's goalkeeper Ksawery Magdziarz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Krzysztof Olszewski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Neacșu having to make a save. Eric Neacșu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Krzysztof Olszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Krzysztof Olszewski came free, but Eric Neacșu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinand Burileanu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Agudin in the 23rd minute of play forced U21 Poland's goalkeeper Ksawery Magdziarz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Krzysztof Olszewski took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eric Neacșu. Eric Neacșu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Krzysztof Olszewski managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Poland's supporters rose to their feet, but Krzysztof Olszewski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Neacșu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th minute, U21 Romania's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Krzysztof Olszewski fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Witold Blochowiak to make the kick off. Krzysztof Olszewski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eric Neacșu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. With a little luck, U21 Poland's Ksawery Magdziarz got control of the ball when Edgar Agudin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Witold Blochowiak struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Eric Neacșu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Poland. U21 Romania's Stelian Cojocaru was substituted for Gabriel-Omar Batistuta. An unexpectedly hard shot by Witold Blochowiak in the 71st minute of play forced U21 Romania's goalkeeper Eric Neacșu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabian Vătafu in the 75th minute. The corner led U21 Romania's Fabian Vătafu to fire away a dangerous shot which Ksawery Magdziarz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Eric Neacșu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Krzysztof Olszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. A collision led to U21 Romania getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Mátyás Király hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Poland's zone, Ionică Săceanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ksawery Magdziarz came out of the goal and Ionică Săceanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Neacșu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Krzysztof Olszewski in the 94th minute of the match. U21 Poland's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
