In the 27thth minute of the game 潘永海 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Bartolo Uhin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 潘永海's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bartolo Uhin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Samuel Joachim hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when 孟泉国 came free, but Bartolo Uhin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Angel Odon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xu Kang Song read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After 36 minutes China's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Coronel Galo who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Mexico's Coronel Galo to fire away a dangerous shot which Xu Kang Song despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 邱傲建 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Bartolo Uhin made a huge save. 41 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when 潘永海 came free, but Bartolo Uhin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by 黄风永 in the 42nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mexico's Samuel Joachim. In the 45th minute, Ruperto Ordono hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the game, Ceferino Gabon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mexico's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave China the free kick. After 47 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Ceferino Gabon. China's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 49th minute of the game, when Fan Fan Kang after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Mexico's goal. Fan Fan Kang was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The audience was convinced that 孟泉国's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bartolo Uhin was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Bartolo Uhin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 孟泉国 in the 59th minute of play. Xu Kang Song made an important save on a dangerous shot by Landon Donovan in the 94th minute. Wu Bin Shi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. China's 孟泉国 managed to work through Mexico's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. 孟泉国 dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mexico players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for China.
