The Bulgaria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tzocho Yavrichev should have stopped the shot. Tzocho Yavrichev was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Fatih Sultan-Mehmet capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fatih Sultan-Mehmet really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Tzocho Yavrichev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rıza Haymanalı in the 27th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Fatih Sultan-Mehmet took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Tzocho Yavrichev to make any attempt to save it. Abd al-Aziz El Abidine Ben Ali stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Darin Yanchovski's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Tzocho Yavrichev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fatih Sultan-Mehmet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 53 minutes of play, Turkey's Rıza Haymanalı made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Abd al-Aziz El Abidine Ben Ali didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bulgaria. 70 minutes into the match, Turkey's goalkeeper Abd al-Aziz El Abidine Ben Ali had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sergey Stanishev. Tzocho Yavrichev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fatih Sultan-Mehmet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bulgaria's goalkeeper Tzocho Yavrichev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tzocho Yavrichev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rıza Haymanalı, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Turkey's Abd al-Aziz El Abidine Ben Ali played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinko Domuschiev in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fatih Sultan-Mehmet in the 92nd minute of play forced Bulgaria's goalkeeper Tzocho Yavrichev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 95 minutes Bulgaria's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Semavi İlhanoğlu who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Turkey's Fatih Sultan-Mehmet getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Bulgaria players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Turkey.
