The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz David got free with Raul Romeu in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. China's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by 朱骏川 in the 33rd minute. After taking down the ball on China's corner Wu Bin Shi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Raul Romeu quite easily take care of the ball. In the 35th minute, Wu Bin Shi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th minute Luiz David shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Romeu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ceferino Butron might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over 陈国天. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ceferino Butron ran back to his position shaking his head. 陈国天 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ceferino Butron, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Efraim Larrauri in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck 陈国天 prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th match minute, China was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wu Bin Shi to maneuver through the defense. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but 陈国天 showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Efraim Larrauri made a kick off. Raul Romeu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xie Xi Feng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wu Bin Shi in the 58th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Raul Romeu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
