Phan Lam struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Zdravko Prelec didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Vietnam. U21 Croatia's Zdravko Prelec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by C.J. Ceni in the 11th minute of play. Nguyễn Van Quyen scored 1-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zdravko Prelec, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vương Lam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopold Kramar, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Vương Lam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominik Bezinović in the 34th minute of the match. A collision led to U21 Vietnam getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Nguyễn Duc hit a great ball. Zdravko Prelec made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Nguyễn Van Quyen sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute, Nguyễn Van Quyen reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zdravko Prelec. The goal made the score 2-0. Zdravko Prelec showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from C.J. Ceni, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Huỳnh Viet lost his temper 48 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. U21 Vietnam's Đặng Hieu Ngan was substituted for Dương Dong. The referee gave U21 Croatia a penalty, 51 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jakov Mata, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of U21 Vietnam's Vương Lam. 2-1.

If Leopold Kramar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Vietnam's goalkeeper Vương Lam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Leopold Kramar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vương Lam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopold Kramar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers C.J. Ceni in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zdravko Prelec saved U21 Croatia from getting behind. A collision led to U21 Vietnam getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Lê Tan hit a great ball. Mateo Letica kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute. Though ot was a great shot U21 Vietnam's keeper Vương Lam was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Leopold Kramar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vương Lam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopold Kramar in the 75th minute of play. Njegoš Marendić kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. U21 Vietnam's Phan Lam got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phan Lam in the 85th minute of play forced U21 Croatia's goalkeeper Zdravko Prelec to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Phan Lam made a precise shot to the right of Zdravko Prelec. U21 Croatia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Leopold Kramar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When U21 Croatia's Leopold Kramar in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Vietnam's goalie prevented a goal. Leopold Kramar might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vương Lam. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopold Kramar ran back to his position shaking his head. Vương Lam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopold Kramar in the 92nd minute of play. If C.J. Ceni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C.J. Ceni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zdravko Prelec having to interfere.
