Matviy Vershynin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Potap Baranov's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Marjan Sylych cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Aleksandr Chikolev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th minute of the match Ukraine got a corner. Russia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Panas Lischuk ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ukraine's Olexandr Yesin to fire away a dangerous shot which Aleksandr Chikolev despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 19th minute Orest Sobko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aleksandr Chikolev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Potap Baranov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 28 minutes into the match, Ukraine's goal looked a bit too open when Lev Smolin came free, but Matviy Vershynin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Potap Baranov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Matviy Vershynin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matviy Vershynin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Potap Baranov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orest Sobko in the 32nd minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Aleksandr Chikolev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute Orest Sobko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aleksandr Chikolev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orest Sobko in the 34th minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Aleksandr Chikolev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matviy Vershynin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Potap Baranov in the 35th minute of the match. Ukraine's Matviy Vershynin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Potap Baranov in the 36th minute of play. Nikita Haritonov might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matviy Vershynin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nikita Haritonov ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 42nd minute Potap Baranov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matviy Vershynin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Orest Sobko to make the kick off. Russia's Aleksandr Chikolev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orest Sobko in the 51st minute of play. Aleksandr Chikolev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panas Artemenko in the 53rd minute of play. Potap Baranovs short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Matviy Vershynin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Russia's Potap Baranov was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Matviy Vershynin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Vadym Pereplyotkin kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Matviy Vershynin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Potap Baranov in the 61st minute. A collision led to Russia getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Timofey Grushevskiy hit a great ball. Aleksandr Chikolev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panas Artemenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matviy Vershynin made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Potap Baranov sent off a good shot on target. Aleksandr Chikolev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Panas Artemenko in the 68th minute of the match. A collision led to Ukraine getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Viktor Sobetskyi hit a great ball. Viktor Sobetskyi kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After 75 played minutes Ukraine got a freekick which was hit by Artem Syzonchyk. After a rather tough play, Ukraine's Artem Syzonchyk got a free kick in the 76th minute. Artem Aksenovs short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Matviy Vershynin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Russia's Lev Smolin got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Orest Sobko put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Aleksandr Chikolev. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
