Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Baltazar Lenarčič took the kick off in the first half of the match. Valmi Puh came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Uruguay's Romeo Pontones. But to his dismay, Romeo Pontones quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Valmi Puh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romeo Pontones in the 7th minute of the match. The Uruguay fans' excitement grew in the 9th match minute when Uruguay's Romeo Pontones looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 14th minute of the match Uruguay got a corner. Slovenia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reynaldo Betardo ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Frascuelo Arizmendi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Valmi Puh quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Frascuelo Arizmendi took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valmi Puh. Valmi Puh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 17 minutes into the match, Jane Račečič notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Uruguay's Panfilo Tremiño. Panfilo Tremiño was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20thth minute of the game Romeo Pontones who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Slovenia's Valmi Puh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Narciz Gogala got free with Panfilo Tremiño in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 26 played minutes, Slovenia's Miklavž Perger shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Panfilo Tremiño came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Slovenia reached it. Panfilo Tremiño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciz Gogala, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With an all-out effort, Slovenia's Panfilo Tremiño threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jane Račečič, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Romeo Pontones got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Slovenia's goalkeeper Valmi Puh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Valmi Puh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeo Pontones in the 37th minute of play. Valmi Puh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikolas Moracia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 44 minutes of play, Uruguay's Pablo Amigo made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valmi Puh was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Romeo Pontones to strike the kick off in the second half. Frascuelo Arizmendi was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 54 minutes into the match. The referee gave Slovenia a penalty, 55 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Miklavž Perger, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Uruguay's Panfilo Tremiño. 2-4. A collision led to Slovenia getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Duško Kotnik hit a great ball. Uruguay's Reynaldo Betardo got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baltazar Lenarčič in the 65th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Panfilo Tremiño to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute, Jovan Mencin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Slovenia made a substitution. Srečo Drnovšek replaced Pavle Merčon. Uruguay's Bertran Aumada was substituted for Pablo Amigo. Slovenia's Vanja Ciglar was substituted for Jane Račečič. Uruguay made a substitution. Bastian Fernandez replaced Romeo Pontones. After 68 played minutes Slovenia got a freekick which was hit by Jovan Mencin. Slovenia's Valmi Puh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bastian Fernandez in the 68th minute of play. Uruguay's Panfilo Tremiño played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jovan Mencin in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Malvin Austria to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 76 minutes, Bertran Aumada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertran Aumada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Uruguay's Bastian Fernandez in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Slovenia's goalie prevented a goal. 79 minutes into the match, Bastian Fernandez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valmi Puh. Slovenia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bastian Fernandez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-5. In the 82ndth minute of the game Bastian Fernandez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Slovenia's Valmi Puh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Mikolas Moracia came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mikolas Moracia couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute, Bastian Fernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Vanja Ciglar came free, but Panfilo Tremiño reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bastian Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reynaldo Betardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Slovenia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Uruguay were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
