The supporters of Philippines booed when Faroe Islands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sjúrdur á Borg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristobal Brauner took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mikkjal Danielsen. Mikkjal Danielsen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alande Brillantes got free with Mikkjal Danielsen in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bagwis Cuizon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Per Dam, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 30 played minutes, Faroe Islands's Torkil Joensen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bagwis Cuizon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Faroe Islands reached it. Faroe Islands's Mikkjal Danielsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Faroe Islands from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Alande Brillantes took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Mikkjal Danielsen to make any attempt to save it. Faroe Islands's Mikkjal Danielsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Magtanggol Buntua in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Per Dam cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Bagwis Cuizon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 44th minute, Magtanggol Buntua made a precise shot to the right of Mikkjal Danielsen. Faroe Islands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jónleif í Skorini to make the kick off. After 51st play minutes Hjalgrím Jacobsen shot 4-3, a short shot which went by Bagwis Cuizon and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 60th minute, Bugoy Bengco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
