Bulgaria's Albert Shatov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nechifor Jugănaru in the 5th minute of play. In the 6th minute Nechifor Jugănaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Shatov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th minute of the match Bulgaria got a corner. Romania's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Stiliyan Chureshki ran over to the corner to take the kick. 12 minutes into the match, Nechifor Jugănaru dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Albert Shatov, 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, Romania's Eduard Popoacă sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Albert Shatov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albert Shatov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nechifor Jugănaru in the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Yavor Lisichkov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Avram Demian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bulgaria's goalkeeper Albert Shatov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Avram Demian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Krasen Mitkov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Romania booed when Bulgaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tinko Bozhanov didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anton Dobroslavski in the 34th minute of play forced Romania's goalkeeper Avram Demian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Bulgaria's goalkeeper Albert Shatov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nechifor Jugănaru. Thanks to some nice moves Eduard Popoacă could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Albert Shatov however easily saved by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eduard Popoacă stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Iosif Enachescu in the 53rd minute. The corner led Romania's Iosif Enachescu to fire away a dangerous shot which Albert Shatov despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Albert Shatov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nechifor Jugănaru's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bulgaria's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Iosif Enachescu was slow to take the kick. During this time Romania's players had a chance to rest. Romania's Martin Caranică was substituted for Nic Nicola. Romania made a substitution. Florin Huțupan replaced Eduard Popoacă. In the 66th minute Romania were awarded a corner. Petruț Udurbac went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Petruț Udurbac got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Albert Shatov quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After having played for 67 minutes, Martin Yanev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bulgaria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Yanev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nechifor Jugănaru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albert Shatov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Gancho Choroleev kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Avram Demian stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yavor Lisichkov's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. In the 77th minute Gancho Choroleev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Avram Demian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute of the match, Anton Dobroslavski tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Avram Demian saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bulgaria made a substitution. Svetlin Kyulev replaced Belcho Sakúzov. In the 82nd minute, Nechifor Jugănaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute Nechifor Jugănaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Shatov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Svetlin Kyulev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stiliyan Chureshki was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 89th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Bulgaria's goal looked a bit too open when Florin Huțupan came free, but Albert Shatov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romania were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Bulgaria for a fine match.
