After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Višeslav Hrvatinić managed to get in a good position for a shot. Croatia's supporters rose to their feet, but Višeslav Hrvatinić was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Honorato Pardow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chile's Honorato Pardow played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hrvoje Matoš in the 5th minute of play. Aaron Larraín sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Chile:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Croatia:s goal. Hrvoje Matoš walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 15th minute, Hrvoje Matoš made a precise shot to the right of Honorato Pardow. Chile's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Aaron Larraín's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Mijat Kresić skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hrvoje Matoš's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Honorato Pardow read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Croatia's Mijat Kresić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aaron Larraín in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hrvoje Matoš in the 23rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Honorato Pardow to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A well-hit corner resulted in Dobriša Poslek heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Croatia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Aaron Larraín scored to the left of an out of position Mijat Kresić, making the score, 1-1. In the 33rd minute Hrvoje Matoš shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honorato Pardow saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Croatia's Hrvoje Matoš in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. In the 34th minute, Bojan Kučinac hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Croatia's Mijat Kresić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aaron Larraín in the 36th minute of play. If Javier Andueza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Višeslav Hrvatinić came free, but Honorato Pardow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Croatia made a substitution. Jure Salzer replaced Višeslav Hrvatinić. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jure Salzer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Aaron Larraín fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chile's protests and gave Aaron Larraín a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Larraín to maneuver through the defense. 56 minutes into the match, Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Larraín came free, but Mijat Kresić reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mijat Kresić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Larraín in the 58th minute of play. When Chile's Aaron Larraín in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Croatia's goalie prevented a goal. When Javier Andueza came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Javier Andueza couldn't finish the play. Chile's Humberto Barahona was substituted for Aaron Larraín. 72 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Hrvoje Matoš came free, but Honorato Pardow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Chile's Javier Andueza in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Croatia's goalie prevented a goal. Mijat Kresić showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florencio Bühler in the 77th minute of the match. Javier Andueza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Mijat Kresić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 83 minutes, Selmo Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Selmo Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hrvoje Matoš who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Honorato Pardow when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Honorato Pardow stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hrvoje Matoš's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Honorato Pardow showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hrvoje Matoš, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After 91 minutes Chile's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Vice Štrublić who took care of the corner kick. Bojan Kučinac made a great header on Croatia's corner, it was just that Chile's Honorato Pardow managed to reach the ball for a save. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Chile had played much better football throughout.
