Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sancho Jaraba started the match with the kick off. Brazil's Erivaldo Donato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Naike Casas in the 4th minute of play. Spain were awarded a corner in the 5th minute after Brazil's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Urdin Cao took the corner. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Sancho Jaraba advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 5th minute. Arnalt Figueroa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmyr Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Spain's Arnalt Figueroa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernani Marquez in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Walmyr Marquez in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnalt Figueroa saved Spain from getting behind. A collision led to Spain getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Cayetano Reyes hit a great ball. If Naike Casas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmyr Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnalt Figueroa having to interfere. Urdin Cao was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Spain's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernani Marquez in the 21st minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Arnalt Figueroa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brazil's Erivaldo Donato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Naike Casas in the 23rd minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Ernani Marquez came free, but Arnalt Figueroa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnalt Figueroa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Marquez in the 27th minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Naike Casas came free, but Erivaldo Donato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnalt Figueroa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernani Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Walmyr Marquez made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Spain's goalkeeper Arnalt Figueroa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernani Marquez. Ernani Marquez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Arnalt Figueroa made a huge save. In the 59th minute Jair Domínguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erivaldo Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Spain's Aznar Mendez was substituted for Nikola Tesla. The corner led Spain's Urdin Cao to fire away a dangerous shot which Erivaldo Donato despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernani Marquez got free with Arnalt Figueroa in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Spain's Arnalt Figueroa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Spain from getting a goal against them. Arnalt Figueroa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernani Marquez in the 63rd minute. 65 minutes into the match, Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Jair Domínguez came free, but Erivaldo Donato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jair Domínguez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erivaldo Donato was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. With a little luck, Spain's Arnalt Figueroa got control of the ball when Ernani Marquez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Erivaldo Donato stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sancho Jaraba's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute, Spain's Aaron Hugues seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Aaron Hugues the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Spain protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Aaron Hugues had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Brazil made a substitution. Betinho de Amaral replaced Waldir de Toledo. Brazil's Carlinhos Ribeiro was substituted for Gugu Arósio. Brazil's Agnaldo Lago was substituted for Walmyr Marquez. The goalkeeper, Arnalt Figueroa, was totally fooled by Brazil's Tiaguinho Matorin, who 77 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 89 minutes into the match, Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Urdin Cao came free, but Erivaldo Donato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
