Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Villiam Mårtensson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 5th minute of the match, Villiam Mårtensson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kenneth Smeland saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Kenneth Smeland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Villiam Mårtensson in the 12th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Villiam Mårtensson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sweden's supporters rose to their feet, but Villiam Mårtensson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rune Lange was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Runar Stornes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Per-Arne Rudqvist having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sweden had won after a very even match.
