Briarios Ladas hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Kostas Paschalis had in the 27thth minute some difficulties stopping Samuele Longo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samuele Longo in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. The China fans' excitement grew in the 39th match minute when China's Samuele Longo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The supporters of China booed when Cyprus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Likymnios Dimakakos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cyprus's Kostas Paschalis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 黄震卫 in the 69th minute of play. After 73 minutes Cyprus's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Šućo Okaemov who took care of the corner kick. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
