The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mark Strudahl's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ruslan Kolín read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Denmark were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Czech Republic's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mark Strudahl took the corner. Denmark's Laurids Ansby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaromír Oliva in the 6th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Mark Strudahl's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruslan Kolín was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Denmark's Laurids Ansby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaromír Oliva in the 16th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Czech Republic's Laurids Ansby threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ondřej Škvára, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 1-0 became the score in the 20th minute when Ondřej Škvára elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Zakarias Aranda kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Michal Adam could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Laurids Ansby made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michal Adam got free with Laurids Ansby in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mark Strudahl might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruslan Kolín. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mark Strudahl ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mark Strudahl in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruslan Kolín prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Laurids Ansby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaromír Oliva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute of the match Czech Republic got a corner. Denmark's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ondřej Škvára ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ruslan Kolín showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mark Strudahl in the 42nd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jaromír Oliva during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Michal Adam stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Denmark's Laurids Ansby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ondřej Škvára in the 52nd minute of play. Laurids Ansby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaromír Oliva, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 56 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Miklos Molnár. Ruslan Kolín stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mark Strudahl's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. In the 60th minute Mark Strudahl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruslan Kolín saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Jan Hadraba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mark Strudahl who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Ruslan Kolín when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Denmark booed when Czech Republic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaroslav Gomola didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaromír Oliva in the 78th minute of play forced Denmark's goalkeeper Laurids Ansby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurids Ansby came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Czech Republic's Jaromír Oliva. But to his dismay, Jaromír Oliva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Czech Republic made a substitution. Tomáš Daněk replaced Václav Knebl. Zakarias Rasten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Czech Republic's Ruslan Kolín got control of the ball when Zakarias Rasten tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dragan Mašata during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Czech Republic getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Dragan Mašata hit a great ball. Laurids Ansby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ondřej Škvára in the 90th minute of the match. After taking down the ball on Czech Republic's corner Ondřej Škvára fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Laurids Ansby quite easily take care of the ball. Ruslan Kolín took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zakarias Rasten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Czech Republic fans cheered their team off the field, for while Denmark had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
