When Kris Middleton fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Northern Ireland's protests and gave Kris Middleton a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, one of U21 Northern Ireland:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Northern Ireland. Charlie Bilton had in the 5thth minute some difficulties stopping Daavid Hill's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 5 minutes of play, U21 Australia's Daavid Hill made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Charlie Bilton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Charlie Bilton came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Australia's Belton Algoud. But to his dismay, Belton Algoud quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Charlie Bilton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Belton Algoud, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Charlie Bilton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belton Algoud in the 23rd minute of play. Howie Prior took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austen Browning , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Belton Algoud in the 29th minute of play forced U21 Northern Ireland's goalkeeper Charlie Bilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th match minute, U21 Northern Ireland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Browne to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute Belton Algoud shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charlie Bilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charlie Bilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Randolph Andrusiow, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Randolph Andrusiow notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of U21 Northern Ireland's Charlie Bilton . Charlie Bilton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Belton Algoud's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Charlie Bilton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Randolph Andrusiow received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Charlie Bilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of U21 Northern Ireland booed when U21 Australia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rod Eastman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

U21 Australia made a substitution. Jess Mcinnes replaced Rod Eastman. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivan Gettins was the one to do the kick off. Denis Pilkington struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Howie Prior didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Northern Ireland. 59 minutes into the match, Rowan Way had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Howie Prior. U21 Australia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rowan Way was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Shane Darby hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Charlie Bilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belton Algoud in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 65th minute, U21 Australia's Belton Algoud ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Charlie Bilton . Charlie Bilton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. 69 minutes into the game, Belton Algoud cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Charlie Bilton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. U21 Australia's Evan Mcmillan was substituted for Randolph Andrusiow. U21 Northern Ireland's Leo Carter was substituted for Jonathan Mulford . In the 75th minute Ivan Gettins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Howie Prior saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When U21 Northern Ireland's Ivan Gettins in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Australia's goalie prevented a goal. U21 Australia's Howie Prior played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rowan Way in the 80th minute of play. David Rundell kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. A collision led to U21 Northern Ireland getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. David Rundell hit a great ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Evan Mcmillan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Australia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evan Mcmillan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the match, U21 Northern Ireland's goalkeeper Charlie Bilton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Belton Algoud. 93 minutes into the match, U21 Australia's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Gettins came free, but Howie Prior reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Belton Algoud in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charlie Bilton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 96th minute U21 Australia were awarded a corner. Jess Mcinnes went to the cornerflag to take it. Steve Hollis was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post.
