The audience thought a goal was coming when Tymur Kruglyak got free with Reino Piekkanen in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Anton Komisarenko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute of the match, Tymur Kruglyak got a very nice opportunity to score, but Reino Piekkanen was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tymur Kruglyak in the 15th minute of play forced U21 Finland's goalkeeper Reino Piekkanen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 17 minutes of play, U21 Finland's Osmo Ripatti made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kyrylo Maschenko was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tarmo Vehmanen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyrylo Maschenko having to interfere. U21 Ukraine's Kyrylo Maschenko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tarmo Vehmanen in the 26th minute of play. Kyrylo Maschenko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osmo Ripatti, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Kyrylo Maschenko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Einari Pelttari in the 33rd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, U21 Ukraine's goal looked a bit too open when Tarmo Vehmanen came free, but Kyrylo Maschenko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reino Piekkanen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tymur Kruglyak showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 37 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Finland's zone, Anton Komisarenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reino Piekkanen came out of the goal and Anton Komisarenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kyrylo Maschenko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osmo Ripatti in the 58th minute. After having played for 61 minutes, Osmo Ripatti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Finland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osmo Ripatti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Ukraine made a substitution. Mykola Shtuchka replaced Anton Komisarenko. 64 minutes into the match, U21 Finland's goal looked a bit too open when Tymur Kruglyak came free, but Reino Piekkanen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to U21 Finland getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ernesti Kuokkanen hit a great ball. In the 72nd match minute, U21 Finland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesti Kuokkanen to maneuver through the defense. Tarmo Vehmanen received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kyrylo Maschenko came out and tried to block the shot, but Tarmo Vehmanen slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 82nd minute. In the 87th minute, Kari Ryynänen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 88 minutes into the match, U21 Finland's Tarmo Vehmanen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kyrylo Maschenko narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 89th minute, Lev Yaschenko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kepa Anush had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 97 minutes into the match, U21 Ukraine's goalkeeper Kyrylo Maschenko had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kepa Anush. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Finland had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
