The audience thought a goal was coming when Belcho Mominov got free with Remus Blajovan in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Albert Shatov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudiu Izbașa in the 26th minute of play. Remus Blajovan acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 43rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dencho Katanov. 46 minutes into the match, Bulgaria's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Izbașa came free, but Albert Shatov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
