U21 Spain's Arnaldo Raya proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save U21 Spain from getting a goal against them. In the 5th minute of the match, Belton Algoud got a very nice opportunity to score, but Arnaldo Raya was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 6 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Spain's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Belton Algoud was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Australia's players had a chance to rest. David Mou thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Arnaldo Raya, a very annoying self made goal in the 6th minute which led to 1-0. In the 9th minute, Tobiasr Zaplana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tito Lacorte in the 17th minute of play forced U21 Australia's goalkeeper Howie Prior to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tito Lacorte fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Spain's protests and gave Tito Lacorte a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of U21 Australia booed when U21 Spain was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobiasr Zaplana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnaldo Raya stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Belton Algoud's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. The supporters of U21 Australia booed when U21 Spain was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tito Lacorte didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Australia's Howie Prior played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cisco Lermo in the 27th minute of play. After 28 played minutes U21 Spain got a freekick which was hit by Milio Pascua. When U21 Spain's Tobiasr Zaplana in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Australia's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to U21 Australia getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Mark Milligan hit a great ball. Howie Prior showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobiasr Zaplana, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The U21 Australia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Spain were winning 1-3.

Cisco Lermo did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-4 to the left of a surprised Howie Prior 55 minutes into the match. Howie Prior showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cisco Lermo in the 65th minute of the match. U21 Spain made a substitution. Karlos Montero replaced Auderico Darroja. In the 70th minute of the match U21 Spain got a corner. U21 Australia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Milio Pascua ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cisco Lermo in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Howie Prior saved U21 Australia from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Cisco Lermo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Howie Prior was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 75th minute of the match U21 Spain got a corner. U21 Australia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Milio Pascua ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led U21 Spain's Milio Pascua to fire away a dangerous shot which Howie Prior despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 80 minutes into the game, Ralph Lunt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Australia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Spain the free kick. In the 80th minute, Ralph Lunt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Xalbador Feliu came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the U21 Spain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xalbador Feliu couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute Cisco Lermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Howie Prior saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led U21 Spain's Milio Pascua to fire away a dangerous shot which Howie Prior despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cisco Lermo struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Howie Prior didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Spain. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Spain had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
