Urbez Cerredelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Ward having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Galeno Carnicero during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 7 played minutes U21 Peru got a freekick which was hit by Galeno Carnicero. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonatan Palma got free with Oswaldo Bueldi in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 9 minutes, Urbez Cerredelo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Peru and the U21 Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Peru's Urbez Cerredelo got a free kick in the 10th minute. The supporters of U21 Peru booed when U21 Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliazar Deppe didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th match minute, U21 Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joam Partearroyo to maneuver through the defense. Eliazar Deppe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Oswaldo Bueldi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oswaldo Bueldi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliazar Deppe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25thth minute of the game Conrao Aleman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Chile's Faustino Ward was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Faustino Ward showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Conrao Aleman in the 28th minute of the match. The supporters of U21 Chile booed when U21 Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joam Partearroyo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Jesus Betanzos kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonatan Palma was the one to do the kick off. Oswaldo Bueldi had in the 54thth minute some difficulties stopping Ignacio Prieto's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The excitement rose when U21 Chile's Ignacio Prieto after 54 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for U21 Peru's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 2-0. If Eliazar Deppe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute, Joam Partearroyo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eliazar Deppe struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Oswaldo Bueldi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Chile. U21 Peru made a substitution. Zosimo Alvarellos replaced Abelardo Daniel. U21 Chile's Cresenciano Villarino was substituted for Jonatan Palma. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eliazar Deppe in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oswaldo Bueldi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliazar Deppe in the 81st minute of play forced U21 Peru's goalkeeper Oswaldo Bueldi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faustino Ward showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrei Arshavin, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. In the 86th minute, Juan Jesus Betanzos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Conrao Aleman struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Faustino Ward didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Peru. Edson-Arantes do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Many of U21 Peru's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. U21 Peru may have spent more time on the ball, but U21 Chile were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
