With a little luck, U21 Chile's Lucas Covarrubias got control of the ball when Mugurel Banica tried to sneak it across the goal line. 8 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's Mugurel Banica sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lucas Covarrubias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mihai Pătrășconiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonzalo Luco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastian Rozental took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mihai Pătrășconiu. Mihai Pătrășconiu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. U21 Romania's Mihai Pătrășconiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Luco in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of U21 Romania booed when U21 Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juanjo Raymond didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Pavel Alexandru managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Romania's supporters rose to their feet, but Pavel Alexandru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas Covarrubias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute Taurino Clavel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihai Pătrășconiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's goalkeeper Lucas Covarrubias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Petrică Nistor. Pavel Alexandru did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Lucas Covarrubias 29 minutes into the match. Pacífico Rio went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 43rd minute, Mugurel Banica fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lucas Covarrubias, passed just outside the right post. With his leg Lucas Covarrubias managed to avoid a goal in the 48thth minute, when U21 Romania's Petrică Nistor fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gonzalo Luco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, U21 Romania's Mihai Pătrășconiu got control of the ball when Taurino Clavel tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lucas Covarrubias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petrică Nistor in the 54th minute of play. Aurel Chevereșan kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. U21 Romania's Gelu Postelnicu got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gonzalo Luco did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Mihai Pătrășconiu 60 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Petrică Nistor managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Romania's supporters rose to their feet, but Petrică Nistor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas Covarrubias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonzalo Luco in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihai Pătrășconiu saved U21 Romania from getting behind. Lucas Covarrubias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugurel Banica in the 68th minute of play. Lucas Covarrubias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Alexandru in the 69th minute of the match. Taurino Clavel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Mihai Pătrășconiu made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Taurino Clavel took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Mihai Pătrășconiu to make any attempt to save it. The crowd rose to their feet as Sebastian Rozental kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mihai Pătrășconiu. That made the score 1-5 in the 73 minute of play. In the 77th minute Petrică Nistor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Covarrubias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Petrică Nistor came free, but Lucas Covarrubias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute, Ionuț Dinculescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lucas Covarrubias came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Romania's Petrică Nistor. But to his dismay, Petrică Nistor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. In the 85th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urtsín Parrau to maneuver through the defense. Lucas Covarrubias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugurel Banica in the 87th minute of the match. The U21 Chile players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
