Monther Al Qatam started the match with the kick off. A hard shot 3 in the game by Qutaiba Taqi from a close distance when the talented Peter Eduu managed to make a qualified save. Kenya's players were relieved. The audience thought a goal was coming when Qutaiba Taqi got free with Peter Eduu in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kenya's defense didn't have a chance, in the 4th minute, when Qutaiba Taqi scored to the left of an out of position Peter Eduu, making the score, 1-0. Qutaiba Taqi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Kenya booed when Kuwait was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sror Taiban didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Kenya getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. David Kagai Khayeshe hit a great ball. In the 17th minute, Ayoob Al Dabos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Peter Eduu. The goal made the score 2-0. Gabriel Wangila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kenya's Peter Eduu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Kenya from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute of the match Kuwait got a corner. Kenya's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emad Al Besher ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kuwait's Emad Al Besher was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Peter Eduu in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The nice shot from Qutaiba Taqi in the 29thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Peter Eduu had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Qutaiba Taqi in the 30thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Peter Eduu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 33rd minute of the match, Qutaiba Taqi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Peter Eduu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Kagai Khayeshe in the 40th minute of play. Peter Eduu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monther Al Qatam in the 46th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Kuwait made a substitution. Jaffer Al Nasser replaced Monther Al Qatam. 54 minutes into the match, Kenya's goal looked a bit too open when Jaffer Al Nasser came free, but Peter Eduu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 56 minutes, Jaffer Al Nasser made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Kenya's Peter Eduu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Kuwait's Jaffer Al Nasser got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaffer Al Nasser in the 61st minute of play forced Kenya's goalkeeper Peter Eduu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peter Eduu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ayoob Al Dabos, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. David Imathiu hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Peter Eduu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaffer Al Nasser in the 67th minute of play. After some careless play in the Kuwait defense, Gabriel Wangila kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize. The Kuwait fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize should have stopped the shot. Kuwait's Sobah Al Ramzi was substituted for Sror Taiban. Kenya's Benjamin Kimutai Wambua was substituted for David Kagai Khayeshe. Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel Wangila in the 75th minute. The Kuwait fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when Kuwait's Jaffer Al Nasser looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Peter Eduu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Qutaiba Taqi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Kuwait's Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize got control of the ball when Deepak Kiprop tried to sneak it across the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Qutaiba Taqi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Peter Eduu. Kenya's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Qutaiba Taqi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. Deepak Kiprop took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize. Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-3.
