After taking down the ball on U21 Romania's corner Petrică Iosub fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kristian Nordstedt quite easily take care of the ball. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Christer Ödmann took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Vasile Şoimaru to make any attempt to save it. Vasile Şoimaru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenny Busk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Romania's goalkeeper Vasile Şoimaru, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Kristian Nordstedt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-1. U21 Sweden made a substitution. Agne Wennerberg replaced Kenny Busk. 93 minutes into the match, U21 Sweden's goal looked a bit too open when Petru Joldea came free, but Kristian Nordstedt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Isac Västberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vasile Şoimaru. U21 Romania's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Isac Västberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Sweden had won after a very even match.
