Moisés Cosme was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Higinio Bikendi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agnaldo Lago, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Argentina's Joel Rubio got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Higinio Bikendi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agnaldo Lago in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Rubio in the 20th minute of play forced Brazil's goalkeeper Moisés Cosme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Joel Rubio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Moisés Cosme. Brazil's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Rubio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Moisés Cosme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Rubio in the 23rd minute of play. In the 23rd minute Joel Rubio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moisés Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Agnaldo Lago's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Higinio Bikendi was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Higinio Bikendi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryan Giggs in the 26th minute of the match. In the 28th minute Brazil were awarded a corner. Tostão Nogueira went to the cornerflag to take it. Brazil's attentive Tostão Nogueira managed to snatch the ball when Benicio Quilo made a throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game. In the 36th minute of the match Brazil got a corner. Argentina's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tostão Nogueira ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a little luck, Argentina's Higinio Bikendi got control of the ball when Agnaldo Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. Argentina's Higinio Bikendi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryan Giggs in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th minute of the match Brazil got a corner. Argentina's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tostão Nogueira ran over to the corner to take the kick. After the first half Argentina were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Moisés Cosme made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joel Rubio in the 54th minute. Brazil's Tostão Nogueira quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Benicio Quilo, made in the 60th minute of the game. Higinio Bikendi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Lago in the 62nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Argentina's Joel Rubio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Moisés Cosme. That made the score 1-3 after 65 minutes of play. Brazil made a substitution. Ian Braga replaced Renan Pinheiro. Brazil's José Paulo Mota was substituted for Agnaldo Lago. Tostão Nogueira charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tostão Nogueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 70th match minute, Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Nogueira to maneuver through the defense. Roman Erdiano took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Moisés Cosme. Moisés Cosme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. José Paulo Mota scored 2-4 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Higinio Bikendi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 84 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo Mota came free, but Higinio Bikendi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brazil's Moisés Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Brazil from getting a goal against them. Higinio Bikendi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Paulo Mota went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score. In the 93rd minute, Argentina's Joel Rubio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Moisés Cosme. Moisés Cosme yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-5. The Brazil supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Argentina's performance. The match ended with a win for Argentina.
