Stepan Beschastnyh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Podador Semell having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Antonio Orella put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Oleg Shingarov. Egor Byshovets scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Podador Semell, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With his leg Oleg Shingarov managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Chile's Antonio Orella fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trofim Galitskiy in the 22nd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Podador Semell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oleg Shingarov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ubaldo Horta in the 24th minute of play. In the 27th match minute, Russia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Dovgan to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egor Byshovets in the 31st minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Podador Semell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute of the match, Antonio Orella tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Oleg Shingarov saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Stepan Beschastnyh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Podador Semell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 37 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Domenico Campillo. Podador Semell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stepan Beschastnyh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antonio Orella's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oleg Shingarov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Oleg Shingarov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Orella in the 42nd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Antonio Orella made the kick off in the second half. Ubaldo Horta scored 2-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oleg Shingarov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 55th minute, Florencio Bühler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oleg Shingarov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florencio Bühler, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. José Alejandro Irizar hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Russia made a substitution. Vladislav Tikhonov replaced Vsevolod Bobrov. Chile's Telmo Bautista was substituted for Mateo Redole. After 69 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by José Alejandro Irizar. In the 81st minute Ezmundo Cabrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oleg Shingarov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Ezmundo Cabrera cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Oleg Shingarov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Stepan Beschastnyh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Podador Semell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chile's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
