The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the game, U21 Romania's Sulaiman Vasile nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mihail Vrânceanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 11th match minute, U21 Moldova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pavel Brãgutã to maneuver through the defense. Petrică Iosub kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, U21 Moldova's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Vidican came free, but Mihail Vrânceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Petruț Benga in the 17th minute. 20 minutes into the match, U21 Moldova's goal looked a bit too open when Dragoş Minda came free, but Mihail Vrânceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Adrian Botezan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mihail Vrânceanu. U21 Moldova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Botezan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 28 minutes into the game, Dragoş Minda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Mihail Vrânceanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sulaiman Vasile succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-4. In the 34th minute, Sergiu Vrânceanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute, Dragoş Minda made a precise shot to the right of Mihail Vrânceanu. U21 Moldova's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Mihail Vrânceanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sulaiman Vasile, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Bogdan Mereutã hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Moldova's zone, Petru Joldea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihail Vrânceanu came out of the goal and Petru Joldea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of U21 Moldova booed when U21 Romania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petrică Iosub didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Petru Joldea to strike the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, U21 Moldova's goal looked a bit too open when Dragoş Minda came free, but Mihail Vrânceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute, Sebastian Vidican reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mihail Vrânceanu. The goal made the score 0-7. Dragoş Minda who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Mihail Vrânceanu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Petru Joldea got free with Mihail Vrânceanu in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, U21 Moldova's Cornel Jalbã got a free kick in the 61st minute. U21 Romania made a substitution. Horea Bilașco replaced Dragoş Minda. In the 62nd minute, Cornel Jalbã hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Moldova's Mihail Vrânceanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Moldova from getting a goal against them. Mihail Vrânceanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petru Joldea in the 68th minute of play. U21 Romania's Emanuel Alexiu was substituted for Sulaiman Vasile. U21 Moldova's Pavel Brãgutã quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Petruț Benga, made in the 72nd minute of the game. In the 76th minute of the match, Petru Joldea tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mihail Vrânceanu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 78 minutes into the match, Horea Bilașco dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mihail Vrânceanu, 0-8. When Florin Calini fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Romania's protests and gave Florin Calini a yellow card for diving instead. 81 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Sergiu Vrânceanu came free, but Iurie Pescaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emanuel Alexiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihail Vrânceanu having to interfere. U21 Moldova's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Petru Joldea scored to the left of an out of position Mihail Vrânceanu, making the score, 0-9. Mihail Vrânceanu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Emanuel Alexiu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 87 minute of play. Mihail Vrânceanu came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Romania's Petru Joldea. But to his dismay, Petru Joldea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-11. U21 Moldova's Mihail Vrânceanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horea Bilașco in the 95th minute of play. U21 Romania's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
