José Alejandro Irizar ran over to the corner to take the kick. Higinio Somoza was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. José Alejandro Irizar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramirez Cantillo having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Florencio Bühler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramirez Cantillo came out of the goal and Florencio Bühler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Podador Semell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juanito Bermeo, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Xinto Cuellar came free, but Podador Semell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Ramirez Cantillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ubaldo Horta. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Ubaldo Horta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Ubaldo Horta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramirez Cantillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xinto Cuellar in the 37th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Podador Semell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Podador Semell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xinto Cuellar in the 37th minute of play. After 37 minutes of play, Ecuador's Xinto Cuellar made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Podador Semell was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ignacio Gorbea kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ubaldo Horta couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Aichele to maneuver through the defense. In the 47thth minute of the game Florencio Bühler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Ramirez Cantillo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

Ecuador's Jaramillo Candia was substituted for Cevallos Ojea. Ecuador made a substitution. Alvaro Camats replaced Arboleda Tamayo. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alvaro Camats stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, José Alejandro Irizar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramirez Cantillo. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramirez Cantillo should have stopped the shot. If Ubaldo Horta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the game, Chile's Florencio Bühler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ramirez Cantillo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. When Florencio Bühler came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Bühler couldn't finish the play. In the 64thth minute of the game Ubaldo Horta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Ramirez Cantillo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aquiles Rajo kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Aquiles Rajo hit a great ball. Ecuador's Ramirez Cantillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ubaldo Horta in the 69th minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when José Alejandro Irizar came free, but Ramirez Cantillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute Florencio Bühler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramirez Cantillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chile's Ezmundo Cabrera was substituted for Florencio Bühler. In the 82nd minute Alvaro Camats shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Podador Semell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. When Chile's Antonio Orella in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Antonio Orella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chants of Ecuador echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Chile had held the ball for most of the match.
