Frederic Gschwendtner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hipolito Fritz in the 23rd minute of the match. 27 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Hipolito Fritz came free, but Frederic Gschwendtner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute Dominic Haug shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Huilipan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Chile's Rodrigo Huilipan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Haug in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rdth minute of the game Hipolito Fritz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Austria's Frederic Gschwendtner was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Lukas Podolski came free, but Rodrigo Huilipan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hipolito Fritz's late challenge caught a U21 Austria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hipolito Fritz helped the player get up and apologised. After 37 played minutes, U21 Austria's Kim Louven shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rodrigo Huilipan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Austria reached it. Lukas Podolski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Rodrigo Huilipan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodrigo Huilipan was a little too slow when Dominic Haug got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-0. 45 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Hugo Painevilu came free, but Frederic Gschwendtner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dominic Haug was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Hugo Painevilu in the 54th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Frederic Gschwendtner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, U21 Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Lukas Podolski came free, but Rodrigo Huilipan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frederic Gschwendtner stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hipolito Fritz's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Adolf Eichmann took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Frederic Gschwendtner to make any attempt to save it. U21 Austria made a substitution. Adem Ferrari replaced Sebastian Ziegler. U21 Chile's Rodrigo Huilipan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jörg Moratschke in the 78th minute of play. Chupan Hoyo made in the 79th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Ubaldo Matildo Klein however managed to control. Heiko Bauschus kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörg Moratschke in the 88th minute of play forced U21 Chile's goalkeeper Rodrigo Huilipan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adolf Eichmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frederic Gschwendtner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. U21 Chile's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
