Thanks to some nice moves Carlos Fernando Fantini could shoot a difficult shot in the 37th minute, which Erwin Huygens however easily saved by the left post. After 38 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Augusto Cordario. Erwin Huygens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 42 minutes, Ago Tramp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Velez Sarsfield and the Marquês de Herval players grew even worse after the yellow card.
