But to his dismay, Amador Rubio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Toronto Marlies FC's Anfilogino Amicone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhivko Kudev in the 10th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Toronto Marlies FC's Gavino Aguirre ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kliment Zakov. Kliment Zakov yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. 19 minutes into the match, Toronto Marlies FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Alberto Suárez came free, but Anfilogino Amicone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Birmingham City F.C.'s Dorin Şerban got a free kick in the 24th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Dorin Şerban in the 36th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Toronto Marlies FC's John England. Anfilogino Amicone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amador Rubio, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. When Gavino Aguirre came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Toronto Marlies FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gavino Aguirre couldn't finish the play. Kliment Zakov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gavino Aguirre in the 46th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gavino Aguirre was the one to do the kick off. Kliment Zakov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gavino Aguirre in the 51st minute of the match. Kliment Zakov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Birmingham City F.C. made a substitution. Peycho Zvezdanov replaced Zhivko Kudev. Despite this Kliment Zakov quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gavino Aguirre in the 72nd minute of play forced Birmingham City F.C.'s goalkeeper Kliment Zakov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Toronto Marlies FC appealed in vain for a penalty, the referee looked over at the linesman, but the flag stayed down. No Penalty. Toronto Marlies FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
