João Carlos Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Staffan Nyberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Valencia in the 22nd minute of play forced Canastro FC's goalkeeper Vladimir Miheev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Canastro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ezio Gøl came free, but Vladimir Miheev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ezio Gøl in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vladimir Miheev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25th match minute, Canastro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Staffan Nyberg to maneuver through the defense. Vladimir Miheev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezio Gøl, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. João Carlos Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zbyszko Cupial in the 34th minute of the match. Rafinha de Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimir Miheev having to interfere. In the 46th minute Fred Valencia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimir Miheev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

That made the score 1-1 after 57 minutes of play. 74 minutes into the match, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goal looked a bit too open when Wlodzimierz Absolwent came free, but João Carlos Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th match minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Valencia to maneuver through the defense. Fred Valencia hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Staffan Nyberg in the 86th minute of play forced INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goalkeeper João Carlos Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Vladimir Miheev successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Canastro FC's Vladimir Miheev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilmar de Souza in the 92nd minute of play. João Carlos Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pedro Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilmar de Souza's late challenge caught a Canastro FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nilmar de Souza helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar de Souza.

The Canastro FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
