Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hu Wei Shu in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrick Neto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bin Baresi in the 9th minute of play forced Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Patrick Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nilton Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute Bin Baresi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Khachatryan's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Diniz came free, but Levon Sarkisyan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Levon Sarkisyan was a little too slow when Décio Cunha got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-2. After 45 played minutes Khachatryan got a freekick which was hit by Berry Phillips. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Aílton de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fluminense DF's supporters rose to their feet, but Aílton de Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Levon Sarkisyan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arin Mndoyants stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
