Villaverde Celeste Clube's Jairo de Azevedo managed to work through Racing Club's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Jairo de Azevedo dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Nenko Reza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luciano Pirro, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 20thth minute of the game Roy Makaay who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 21 minutes into the game, Jairo de Azevedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cornelio Cordearo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 25 minutes in the game Dino Manfredi did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Jairo de Azevedo. 29 minutes into the match, Roy Makaay notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo. Cornelio Cordearo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luciano Pirro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nenko Reza firmly grabbed it by the left post. 36 minutes into the game, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Guo Ao nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cornelio Cordearo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo de Azevedo in the 45th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Cornelio Cordearo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Efmamjjasond Bronco to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Villaverde Celeste Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Nevada came free, but Nenko Reza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goalkeeper Cornelio Cordearo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romário Carvalho. Nenko Reza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Pirro in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Villaverde Celeste Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Pirro came free, but Nenko Reza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Armandinho Xavier was substituted for Jairo de Azevedo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Makaay in the 66th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Cornelio Cordearo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cornelio Cordearo came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Villaverde Celeste Clube's Roy Makaay. But to his dismay, Roy Makaay quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Racing Club's Epifanio Txomin was substituted for Luciano Pirro. Nenko Reza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Epifanio Txomin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roy Makaay got free with Cornelio Cordearo in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo got control of the ball when Armandinho Xavier tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 89th minute, Armandinho Xavier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cornelio Cordearo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. 92 minutes into the match, Villaverde Celeste Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Nevada came free, but Nenko Reza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roy Makaay's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Cornelio Cordearo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Villaverde Celeste Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
