Basílio Xavier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu Filho in the 3rd minute of the match. Tiago Silva's late challenge caught a Sagarana Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tiago Silva helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Fluminense di Parma's Tiago Silva got a free kick in the 4th minute. Noel Coelho took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Basílio Xavier. Basílio Xavier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Basílio Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Basílio Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaká Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 14th minute Cafu Filho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Xavier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 19 minutes, Cafu Filho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sagarana Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cafu Filho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Fluminense di Parma defense, Kaká Rosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Basílio Xavier. The Fluminense di Parma fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basílio Xavier should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Sagarana Clube booed when Fluminense di Parma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo Ramalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Rosa in the 25th minute of play forced Fluminense di Parma's goalkeeper Basílio Xavier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense di Parma's zone, Mazinho Ferraz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Xavier came out of the goal and Mazinho Ferraz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sagarana Clube booed when Fluminense di Parma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basílio Xavier didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Sagarana Clube's Kaká Rosa shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-3 in the ordered_time% minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Cafu Filho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sagarana Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Cafu Filho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basílio Xavier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kaká Rosa to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Noel Coelho got free with Basílio Xavier in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Basílio Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 62nd minute, Germain Cano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Fluminense di Parma's José Paulo Ramalho got a free kick in the 70th minute. Sagarana Clube made a substitution. Frederico Costa replaced Cafu Filho. A collision led to Fluminense di Parma getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. José Paulo Ramalho hit a great ball. In the 77th match minute, Fluminense di Parma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Pena to maneuver through the defense. Kaká Rosa struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Basílio Xavier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sagarana Clube. Fluminense di Parma's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Rupert Dearden scored to the left of an out of position Basílio Xavier, making the score, 0-4. Kaká Rosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Fluminense di Parma fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sagarana Clube were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
