Olympiacos FC's Andreas Kousoulakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frans Geurtsen in the 13th minute of play. Pepijn van Boxel made in the 15th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Youri Bemmel immediately put the ball in play. In the 18th minute, Frans Geurtsen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FFC Merainies 03 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Alexis Kotsanakis might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gregor Compaan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alexis Kotsanakis ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 26th minute Ricky Stolte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andreas Kousoulakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Paschalis Stavrakos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregor Compaan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Andreas Kousoulakis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, FFC Merainies 03's goal looked a bit too open when Paschalis Stavrakos came free, but Gregor Compaan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paschalis Stavrakos took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gregor Compaan. Gregor Compaan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frans Geurtsen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of FFC Merainies 03 booed when Olympiacos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Konstantinos Meletiou didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Herbert Springelkamp came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the FFC Merainies 03 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Herbert Springelkamp couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frans Geurtsen in the 56th minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Andreas Kousoulakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the game, Youri Bemmel threw the ball into play from the sideline. Olympiacos FC's Giorgos Soufleris quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Alexis Kotsanakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. Gregor Compaan came out of the goal and Paschalis Stavrakos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andreas Kousoulakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Max Duinhoven, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute of the match FFC Merainies 03 got a corner. Olympiacos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Max Duinhoven ran over to the corner to take the kick. 75 minutes into the game, Lakis Xanthis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olympiacos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FFC Merainies 03 the free kick. A collision led to Olympiacos FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Olympiacos FC's Andreas Kousoulakis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Olympiacos FC from getting a goal against them. FFC Merainies 03's Frans Geurtsen was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 93rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Andreas Kousoulakis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rafael van Zeggeren went, in the 98th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score.
