The referee ignored Scarlet Speedster's protests and gave Romário Ceresso a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Scarlet Speedster getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Romário Ceresso hit a great ball. Dudu de Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uriel Fagondo in the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uriel Fagondo in the 6th minute of play forced Scarlet Speedster's goalkeeper Dudu de Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Forest Green booed when Scarlet Speedster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júnior da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marciano Francho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Uriel Fagondo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Forest Green's supporters rose to their feet, but Uriel Fagondo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dudu de Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior da Fonseca in the 18th minute of play forced Forest Green's goalkeeper Elvio Galtero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Romário Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scarlet Speedster's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romário Ceresso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 23rd minute Romário Ceresso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elvio Galtero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Scarlet Speedster's Jânio Guimarães nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Elvio Galtero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 45th minute Uriel Fagondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dudu de Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Marciano Francho kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After 55 played minutes Scarlet Speedster got a freekick which was hit by Lino Paiva. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jânio Guimarães in the 58th minute of play forced Forest Green's goalkeeper Elvio Galtero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elvio Galtero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jânio Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jânio Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elvio Galtero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jânio Guimarães in the 66th minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Generoso Milio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Forest Green's Elvio Galtero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jânio Guimarães in the 70th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Romário Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Scarlet Speedster's zone, Uriel Fagondo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dudu de Toledo came out of the goal and Uriel Fagondo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th minute, Jorginho Peres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elvio Galtero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júnior da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. 87 minutes into the match, Jorginho Peres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elvio Galtero. Forest Green's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorginho Peres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Romário Ceresso struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Elvio Galtero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scarlet Speedster. After a rather tough play, Scarlet Speedster's Lino Paiva got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Marciano Francho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Forest Green's supporters rose to their feet, but Marciano Francho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dudu de Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Scarlet Speedster had won after a very even match.
