Baltasar Meder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Goiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 9 minutes into the game, Serafin Hori cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Serginho Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Serginho Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Leguizamón in the 20th minute of play. MINEIROS's Hugo Albuquerque was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 22nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Toninho Goiano notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Leones FC's Baltasar Meder. Baltasar Meder was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. William Guerreiro charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed William Guerreiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 28th match minute, MINEIROS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Guerreiro to maneuver through the defense. Toninho Goiano hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, Serafin Hori notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel. Serginho Taffarel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of MINEIROS booed when Leones FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Leguizamón didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Hugo Albuquerque left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MINEIROS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 44th minute, Serafin Hori left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leones FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. If Christian Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hugo Albuquerque made a kick off. Nilson de Souza hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Hugo Albuquerque's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baltasar Meder was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. In the 66th minute, Leones FC's Gaspar Sabin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-4. After 72 played minutes MINEIROS got a freekick which was hit by Vágner Gaspar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Santana in the 76th minute of play forced MINEIROS's goalkeeper Serginho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. William Guerreiro kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Baltasar Meder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Quadros in the 83rd minute of play. Serginho Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnaldo Leguizamón in the 85th minute of the match. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for MINEIROS! 3-6 came through a penalty shot after 90 played minutes, when Leones FC:s Edgardo Calvino calmly waited for MINEIROS:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post.

The Leones FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Leones FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
