The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Elodio in the 6th minute of play forced Zjem Cię's goalkeeper Napoleon Jajko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute Miroslaw Cichowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andriy Lunin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tolek Wojtyna was slow to take the kick. During this time Zjem Cię's players had a chance to rest. Miroslaw Cichowski made a great header on Zjem Cię's corner, it was just that SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin managed to reach the ball for a save. 14 minutes into the match, Zjem Cię's goal looked a bit too open when David Elodio came free, but Napoleon Jajko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andriy Lunin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateo Palacio in the 17th minute of play. Andriy Lunin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mateo Palacio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zjem Cię's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateo Palacio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andriy Lunin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Elodio to make the kick off. Zjem Cię's Napoleon Jajko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Elodio in the 52nd minute of play. With a little luck, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin got control of the ball when Mateo Palacio tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Mateo Palacio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Andriy Lunin. That made the score 2-2 in the 57 minute of play.
