The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agnaldo Vargas charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agnaldo Vargas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 11 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Vargas. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Lauro Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uriel Etxekopar in the 12th minute of play. Lauro Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Braulio Saturnin in the 14th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Uriel Etxekopar came free, but Lauro Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manuel Oto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Varela having to interfere. Severiano Santo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Cerezo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Amboy FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Manuel Oto hit a great ball. After 25 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Cerezo. An unexpectedly hard shot by César Alagoano in the 28th minute of play forced Amboy FC's goalkeeper Severiano Santo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Caetano Pires fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nova Iguaçu MZFC's protests and gave Caetano Pires a yellow card for diving instead. 31 minutes into the match, Amboy FC's Uriel Etxekopar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lauro Varela narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lauro Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Oto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gaspar Milio hit a great ball. 55 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Gilmar Donato broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Vladimir Braga was substituted for Juvenal Novaes. Nova Iguaçu MZFC made a substitution. Marcelinho Valle replaced Dudu Queiroz. In the 59th minute, Agnaldo Vargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelinho Valle to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute Agnaldo Vargas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severiano Santo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78thth minute of the game Paulo Renato Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Amboy FC's Severiano Santo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Severiano Santo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agnaldo Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Agnaldo Vargas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Severiano Santo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Caetano Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. In the 96th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Paulo Batista to maneuver through the defense. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Lauro Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to save Nova Iguaçu MZFC from getting a goal against them. The score was 1-1 after 90 minutes, which forced the match into extra-time.

In the 102nd minute, Diego Cerezo made a precise shot to the right of Severiano Santo. Amboy FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
