Isidro Camara was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Victoriano Paillemil got free with Eugênio Teles in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 14 minutes, Reginaldo de Brito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SORRISO E. C. and the Magallanes players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th match minute, SORRISO E. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginaldo de Brito to maneuver through the defense. Eugênio Teles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victoriano Paillemil's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by SORRISO E. C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Vladimiro Leroy was slow to take the kick. During this time Magallanes's players had a chance to rest. A very nice done corner allowed Selmo Scholtzl to score against Eugênio Teles in SORRISO E. C.'s goal. 1-1 after 18 minutes. The supporters of Magallanes booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Magallanes's goalkeeper Isidro Camara, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SORRISO E. C. were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Magallanes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vítor Sousa took the corner. Joaquim Queirós made a great header on SORRISO E. C.'s corner, it was just that Magallanes's Isidro Camara managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Eugênio Teles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerónimo Brito during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Isidro Camara came out of the goal and Joaquim Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 83 minutes into the match, Júlio Faria had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isidro Camara. Magallanes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Júlio Faria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. If Artur Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, SORRISO E. C.'s Júlio Faria ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Isidro Camara. Isidro Camara yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-6. The SORRISO E. C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SORRISO E. C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
