ATHLETICO PRaiano's Gu Zhan Cheng quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Rodriguinho Sousa made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Cássio Ferraz sent off a good shot on target. Abelardo Maranhense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Deilmison van Basten went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score.

The wind increased when Valdo Dantas made the kick off in the second half. Abelardo Maranhense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute, Deilmison van Basten got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Dantas in the 66th minute of play. Abelardo Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deilmison van Basten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rodriguinho Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Ferraz in the 68th minute of the match. Olivedos were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after ATHLETICO PRaiano's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luisinho Ceresso took the corner. Olivedos made a substitution. Luís Novaes replaced Luisinho Ceresso. Olivedos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Caio Pinto in the 73rd minute. With a little luck, Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense got control of the ball when Deilmison van Basten tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Deilmison van Basten managed to get in a good position for a shot. ATHLETICO PRaiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Deilmison van Basten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abelardo Maranhense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Vianna in the 87th minute of play. Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Olivedos from getting a goal against them. 93 minutes into the match, Ricardinho Vianna notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa. Rodriguinho Sousa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
